Read below for the words to my thank you message:
This past year has been real tough for me – as most of you would know it was tumultuous to say the least on the family front. Hence the reason I was being indulgent in having a bday party - it was in an attempt to wash away the pain of the year and begin anew and was also my way of thanking you all for being a part of my life, both today and in the future.
Now as you all know, I do have a penchant for movies and an encyclopaedic knowledge of pop culture… so I cast my mind to the Brad Pitt film “Meet Joe Black”. The tag line was “there’s nothing surer in life than death and taxes”. However, that said, I believe this misses the true story, the real picture. In the movie, all Brad Pitt wants to do is find love, and it sways him from his sole task.
So I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing surer in life than love. Love in all its forms, not just the traditional notion of romantic love, for love has the ability to transcend and manifest itself in many, many forms. Love makes early morning starts bearable, you can keep it in your pocket or on your phone, it can be found in a melody, it makes work feel like play, it makes you run out in the rain with your mates, it forges bonds, it erases hardship, it soothes the pain and it lifts us up where we belong.
Love is the omnipresence that makes life worth living and what we all should strive for before any materialistic gains.
Which bring me to you all and the point of writing this message to you all.
Without the love you have all provided me, the year gone passed would have been indeed much worse and intolerable. For those of you who came along on the night I thank you (check out the photos located on facebook), for those who couldn’t make it I’ll catch up for a drink with you soon.
For it is all of you, my family and friends that make me who I am, it is the love you provide that makes the happiness abound in me and the good times roll on.
